La publicación de la obra del destacado historiador italiano es un verdadero acierto editorial, entre otras razones porque Giovanni Levi ha sido ante todo escritor artículos revista, siempre producto investigaciones apoyadas en una cuidadosa consulta archivo, pero no autor libros, género que solo se le conocen dos: Centro e periferia di uno stato assoluto. Tre saggi su Piemonte Liguria in età moderna, 1985, nunca circuló castellano, y herencia inmaterial. historia exorcista piamontés siglo xvii, también traducido pronto a muchas lenguas, ellas al español 1990. esta colección ensayos ocasión para el lector tener perspectiva más equilibrada riqueza analítica llamada microstoria italiana, casi reducida nosotros obra: El queso los gusanos, gran best-seller Carlo Ginzburg 1976, lo significó cierta distorsión conocimiento importante corriente historiográfica, reducirla sus líneas, tiempo empobreció propia Ginzburg, cuyos demás títulos permanecen o menos ignorados.
